Getting connected isn’t always easy, especially when you are so far away from everything. Located on the farm De Poort just off the Du Toits kloof pass, with a very high altitude. Not only is the client in a remote location, the line of sight is blocked by the terrain. We decided to build an independent structure with two directional radios. The one connecting to the Hawequas Telkom Tower, and the other connecting to his home.

We designed and built the hop tower in house, to be independent from power and to be able to withstand extreme weather conditions and baboon tempering. The structure is bolted to the bedrock and anchored further with stay cables. Because of how it was built and its sturdy structure and its form, it was soon given the nickname “Iron man”.
In this specific case, a Resident was alone for miles in all directions, and had an accident where he slipped and broke his neck. He managed to crawl over to the Oculus IP VOIP phone which was a mere 3m away. This took him 12 hours to accomplish and was able to make a call for help. This ended up saving his life.

We take pride in solving connectivity challenges. Regardless of where you are, remote connectivity doesn’t scare us away. Contact us today to assess your location and get connected.
